The Coronet R/T was the deluxe muscle car version of the Dodge Coronet line. Unlike the second muscle car model, the Super Bee, the R/T came standard with the largest V8,
the 440cui high performance engine. There were also other standard options such as single seats, wheel arch chrome and wide chrome trim on the sills.

Dodge wrote about this in an advertising flyer at the time:
"First you'll hear the satisfying low rumble.
Then you`ll see the bumblebee tail stripes.
That`s when you`ll know that Coronet R/T have arrived."

On this 1969 Dodge Coronet R/T hardtop with its "custom HEMI orange" paint, black interior & black tail stripe combined to create an incredibly sporty look. Power comes from a 7.2 liter V8 big block engine mated to a Heavy Duty A727 3-speed automatic transmission.

The engine block is stamped as HP, but has the casting date 1975. The engine runs clean on all eight cylinders and has no imbalance. Due to the slightly sharper camshaft, the sound at idle is simply a dream! The torque curve has been pushed up a bit and the engine revs very cleanly to the top. Installed is a dual exhaust system with bright exhaust tips and original HP cast manifolds. Due to the cast manifolds, the noise from the engine compartment is lower and you can enjoy the sound from the exhaust system more pleasantly. Our owner Oliver Zinn has driven the car several hundred kilometers. Deficiencies found in the process were repaired and the car showed that it is easy and reliable to drive in everyday life. In certain partial load ranges, the bass range of the exhaust system is clearly perceptible in the interior. Flowmaster pots (50 Series Delta Flow Chambered #942451) are currently installed.
Let's take a look inside the engine bay, which is typically painted in Mopar body color. Sitting on the engine is a new Edelbrock 4 barrel 750cfm carburetor (#1407), also black Mopar performance aluminum valve covers. Optionally, we can also upgrade back to original orange sheet metal valve covers. The ignition system has already been converted to an electronic ignition which Mopar (Dodge, Plymouth Chrysler) delivered as standard on all their models from 1973 on. So you don't have to adjust and change the contacts here. Carburetor and ignition we have already optimized.

Also installed is the extra option 3-speed wiper motor. This is also mandatory for space reasons, if as here, a RAMCHARGER fresh air filter system was installed. Super rare and sought after, this car had the N96 package from the factory, the Ramcharger, which means a fresh air intake with scoops on the hood and corresponding Six Pack style air filter. It also came without air conditioning (non A/C car), which gives a much cleaner look in the engine bay. The heater works, as does the power steering, which you won't find on many Super Bee models. A large 26" water cooler is retrofitted instead of the original 22" cooler. The water cooler has the matching fan shroud (air baffle) and thus ensures that cooling problems do not arise in the first place.
Underneath the R/T is a large sturdy 8 ¾" rear axle with a #489 case mounted. It has a rear axle ratio of 3.23 : 1 without a limited slip differential. This ratio is nicely in the middle between longer and shorter ratios and is the most popular with our customers. In the front is an original stabilizer bar, which was not available on all the standard Coronet's and it ensures that the car is nice and stable on the road. Plus extra large 11" brake drums front and rear with very wide pads. The resulting braking surface is dramatically larger than the standard models and results in the car having high stopping power even without a brake booster. The 11" brakes were only available on the R/T and Super Bee models.

The car has just recently received new 15" Magnum 500 rims & new HR tires. The rim width is 7" wide in the front & 8" wide in the rear. Tire size in the front 235/60-VR 15 Radial G/T & tire size in the rear 275/60-VR15 Radial G/T.
The first owner also gave this Coronet, in addition to the single seats installed as standard, the center console popular in the Mopar Scene. Back in the day, this option only cost a few dollars more. Nowadays, you can still buy all the parts for the conversion and we do it more often in our shop, but add up parts and labor and you're quickly looking at a few thousand Euros. The interior is in good working condition. This includes the unmodified dashboard. The dashpad has no cracks, no wrong radio cutouts and no missing parts. Still installed in it are the original "thumb wheel" radio and the optional Map Light. All gauges work. Plus we have the extra cool option here with original tach right at the gauges. Standard on the R/T the 150 mp/h speedometer and also the original Hi Price option Woodgrain Steering Wheel. Matching the black look are wood applications (Woodgrain Option) on the dash, center console and doors. This Woodgrain design feature is again an R/T only feature. On the driver's side door, there is an adjustable left side mirror in Chrome. The seat covers on the single seats, as well as the one on the rear bench seat, have slight damage to the seat surface. The pattern of the seats is from a 1969 Charger and not a 1969 Coronet R/T. The shape of the seats is the same, only the look of the stitching is minimally different! New covers are available ready sewn and the upholstery is also available new. The headliner in the interior has a good condition, which was certainly renewed before.

On the exterior body, you'll find a few options that make this Coronet R/T stand out. Not only the chrome sills and wheel arch moldings, but also the extra side scoops on the rear side panels, the original chrome hood pins on the hood with the scoops or the black R/T Bumbelbee stripe on the rear emphasize its sportiness. Our muscle car was originally painted in "Gold Metallic" and now wears a "HEMI Orange" with gold metallic sprinkles. The car was completely repainted, golden old areas do not interfere anywhere here. Overall the paint makes a good impression, but is neither new nor perfect.

Due to the numbers present such as Fender Tag, VIN Tag and Body Stamp number (trunk) it is clear that it is a true R/T. The car runs, brakes & lights work. A complete mechanical and electrical walk through on the car is being done. In addition, it has already been test driven a few hundred miles over the weekend, rolling through with no problems.
If you like the car you can look at it, after appointment arrangement, with us. The car is in 59399 Olfen with us in the Moparshop.
