Disc brake conversion kit for C-bodies
We have installed many different systems over the past few years, but none of them come close to these braking values with the same pedal pressure.
This may also be due to the fact that components from late 70s Mopars are used here and not, as with some others, the wheel brake cylinders from much too small, lightweight Mustangs (don't be fooled by nice names!!).
The other two suppliers in the C-body sector are Wilwood and Stainless Steel Brakes. Both manufacturers have nice names, but they supply brake calipers with a surface area that is far too small. This small surface area means that you need significantly more brake pressure in the lines to brake the car. This is technically impossible without a hydroboost kit! The second advantage of this system is that it looks original and therefore does not cause any problems with the TÜV. No extra registration is required here!
The system is supplied with a 1_ master brake cylinder. As a special order, it can also be supplied as 1 1/8_ for use with a booster. (Special order means extra long delivery time and no returns).
However, the system offered here is even better when used with a brake booster! There are three ways to do this that we know of.
1) If your car already has a brake booster, you only need to replace it with a reconditioned original one that is designed for disc brakes.
2) With a few adjustments, you can install these items
C-bodys: 1965 - 1974 Fury I, II, III and 1975 - 1977 Gran Fury
1962 - 1978 Newport and New Yorker
1962 - 1971 300 1967 - 1975 Imperial
1962 - 1965 880
1965 - 1975 Monaco and 1977 - 1978 Royal Monaco
1965 - 1973 Polara
The kit is as complete as possible and includes:
-Brake discs
-Wheel brake cylinders (floating caliper in large single-piston version)
-Brake pads
-Wheel bearings
-Oil seals
-Brake hoses
-Wheel hubs (the original ones tend to wear out after 40 years)
-Dust covers
-Brake pressure distributor valve
-Master brake cylinder
-Instructions
Please note:
-Usually only fits 15" rims and larger, please inquire!
-4.5" bolt circle
It is possible that the screws included in the set may be too short. The appropriate screws can be found at any hardware store. Required:
M16 x 80 mm shaft and total length of 90 mm (the shaft can also be shorter, the total length is important). Tensile strength of 8.8 or higher and self-locking nuts.
