Technical Information:
The exhaust manifold studs should not be torqued down to a stop when installed in the cylinder head, as some (or all) threads may extend into the water jacket. Instead, simply thread them in until the end of the threads. To seal the threads, MAS-15BP can be used.
The nut is tightened later. There are no specific torque specs for this—an experienced mechanic should feel when the gasket compresses and the nut is properly seated using an open-end or box-end wrench. Care should be taken to avoid overtightening, which could cause the 3/8" stud to break or damage the threads.
The included brass nut is designed to yield first under excessive torque to protect the stud. Those who prefer a steel nut can order MPSP-5 or ARP-200-8634 separately.
After the first heat cycle (warm-up and cool-down), the nuts should be re-tightened.
