Product Description
Shock Absorver, front
62-64 C-Body
Bilstein shock absorbers are one of the quickest and most cost-effective ways to significantly improve a vehicle's handling and ride quality. Their technically superior monotube high-pressure gas design ensures that excess heat is efficiently transferred from the oil to the outer surface of the shock body, allowing for optimal heat dissipation. The use of separate pistons allows the oil to expand when heated, preventing aeration (foaming) and viscosity loss. This ensures that the shock absorber maintains its damping performance even as temperatures rise.
Bilstein is the only shock absorber manufacturer that produces comfortably "soft" shocks without adjustability, offering a differentiated driving experience. Depending on the suspension travel and the speed of elevation changes, their damping rate increases significantly. This results in a very pleasant, not-too-harsh ride quality, while providing safety-critical stiffness during more intense driving situations. The perfect choice for cruisers, not racers. However, for vehicles with significantly higher performance, such as those with 500 cubic inches of displacement, we recommend stiffer solutions.
These shocks use the latest in suspension technology, including Teflon-coated surfaces to reduce friction and Bilstein's patented digressive valving! Digressive valving provides superior control without the harshness typically associated with performance shock absorbers. Best of all, Bilstein shocks feature a sleek black finish – not the loud yellow paint commonly associated with Bilstein shocks!
Features:
• One-piece aluminum rod guide and seal
• Solid, self-adjusting digressive piston
• High-pressure nitrogen gas and floating dividing piston
We are happy to advise you on the topic of suspension and driving dynamics and put together the perfect set tailored to your needs. Our expert, Oliver Zinn, has tried almost everything and can assemble the ideal setup across different brands.
Here’s a brief guide to choosing shock absorbers:
Manufacturer KYB: An affordable option, but don’t expect much in terms of damping or durability. Simply put: "you get what you pay for."
Manufacturer KONI: In short, "Best Bang for the Buck." These shocks are adjustable and often our top choice, especially for the front.
Manufacturer Bilstein: The only manufacturer that produces well-damping shock absorbers that aren't too stiff. Our recommendation for full-size cars and for drivers who value good damping without wanting it too firm.
Manufacturer ViKing: Here, anything is possible — top quality, maximum variety, and the most adjustable options.
