This electrical component regulates the voltage generated by the alternator to power the vehicle’s electrical system and charge the battery. If your alternator is defective, we recommend ordering this part at the same time. If this regulator is installed with a faulty wiring harness or a defective alternator, its circuit will immediately become overloaded and the part will become inoperable. The same thing can happen, by the way, if you install a new regulator when the battery is “too low.” So please charge the battery with a charger before the first start-up, if at all possible.
Special version: On the back of the regulator, there is a potentiometer that allows you to readjust the charging voltage in an emergency. However, please only do this after you have ensured that all other potential problem areas in the wiring harness and the plug and screw connections are 100% in working order (i.e., have no contact resistance or short circuits).
