Drive for pre-oiling the engine on all Mopar V8 engines.
Simply clamp into the drill, remove the ignition distributor and instead insert this drive shaft deep down into the oil pump.
Our new "DeLuxe" engine oil priming tool is a must-have for every Mopar enthusiast! Featuring a CNC-machined 6061 aluminum housing with sealed ball bearings, this tool pops into the distributor hole and keeps the priming rod perfectly straight. More importantly, it takes all the pressure off the oil pump rotors.
Why does this matter?
In a Mopar big block, the intermediate shaft is designed to “float” above the oil pump gears. During assembly, it's recommended to check for 0.050"-0.070" (1.27 - 1.78 mm) clearance between the hex end (bottom) of the shaft and the oil pump gear. If there’s no clearance and the shaft bottoms out into the gear, it will press down on it, causing the gear to grind into and score the oil pump cover.
With a standard priming tool, it’s hard to relieve the pressure—especially when using a large electric ½" drill. That’s where our tool shines: Thanks to its adjustable collars, you can set the exact amount of endplay to avoid damage. Plus, it’s universal, working on RB, B, and even small block Mopar engines!
